Ole Miss Hosts Free Men's Hoops Exhibition Friday
11/5/2009 | Men's Basketball
OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's basketball team continues its preparations for the highly anticipated 2009-10 season with an exhibition game against Auburn-Montgomery Friday at Tad Smith Coliseum. Tipoff is 6 p.m., and admission is free.
Fans will get the chance to visit with the Rebels and receive autographs and team posters following the game.
Andy Kennedy's squad returns five starters, including veteran guards Chris Warren and Eniel Polynice, who missed most of last season with knee injuries. The Rebels' backcourt also sees the return of sophomore Terrico White, who was the 2009 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year after he averaged 18.4 points per game in SEC play. White and Warren were picked preseason All-SEC by the media and the league coaches this year.
The Rebels went 16-15 overall with a 7-9 league record last season, despite being decimated with injuries. Kennedy has guided the team to three straight winning campaigns and a pair of postseason appearances in his first three years at the helm, racking up a 61-39 overall record.
Auburn-Montgomery will present Ole Miss with an opponent other than itself following the first few weeks of the preseason. The Senators have traditionally excelled as one of the top teams in the NAIA division and are 1-1 this season with a win over Blue Mountain College and a loss to Freed-Hardeman.
Ole Miss officially tips off the 2009-10 season at home with a 6 p.m. contest against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday, Nov. 13, the night before the Tennessee home football game.
Season tickets for the Rebels' 16 regular-season home games can be purchased online at OleMissSports.com (click here) or by calling the Ole Miss Ticket Office toll-free at 1-888-732-8587.
