Polynice Honored For Work In Community

2/19/2009 | Men's Basketball

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss junior guard Eniel Polynice is being featured this week as the SEC Community Service Team Player of the Week on Raycom Sports’ basketball telecasts.

The Sarasota, Fla., native has participated in Reading with the Rebels (a program which helps promote reading to area students) and the SAAC Annual Canned Food Drive with the Oxford Food Pantry. He was also involved in a “Party in the Park” rally for child abuse awareness. He has joined teammates in visiting patients at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital and Children’s Cancer Clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC has again teamed with Raycom Sports to highlight an SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball for the 2008-09 season.

A player will be highlighted on the Raycom broadcasts each week beginning in January as the SEC Community Service Team “Player of the Week” for his accomplishments in the community and in the classroom. This marks the 11th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball as well as for women’s basketball and at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
