BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  After helping Ole Miss to wins over Tennessee and Georgia, forward Murphy Holloway was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The Irmo, S.C., native averaged 15.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in the two victories, as Ole Miss has now won five of its last seven games to even its SEC record at 6-6.

Holloway produced his best SEC game of the season with a career-high 18 points (going 8-of-10 from the field) along with 13 rebounds in an 81-65 win over the Vols. He then recorded his third straight double-double with 12 points and 10 boards in a 69-47 victory over the Bulldogs. The energetic leaper has pulled down 42 rebounds in his last four games for an average of 10.5 per outing.

It is the second such honor for Holloway and the fourth for a Rebel this season. Holloway was SEC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 29, while Terrico White received the accolade on Jan. 19 and Feb. 2.

The Rebels take to the road on Wednesday for a battle against an Auburn team that is tied with Ole Miss for third place in the SEC West.
