OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss sophomore forward Malcolm White has informed head coach Andy Kennedy that he has decided to leave the Rebel basketball team for personal reasons.

“We appreciate Malcolm’s contributions to this program over the past two years, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors,” Kennedy said on Thursday.

“I have decided to leave Ole Miss in order to finish my career closer to my family in Louisiana,” said White, a native of Baton Rouge. “I have really enjoyed my time at Ole Miss and want to thank the coaches, my teammates and the whole Rebel family for all their support.”

White averaged 7.2 points and 5.7 rebounds while making 27 starts in 31 games for Ole Miss this season. He led the squad with a school sophomore record 43 blocked shots, which also ranked among the Southeastern Conference leaders. Over his two-year career, he tallied 280 points, 211 rebounds and 50 blocks in 57 games.
