Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 240 student-athletes from 24 districts (which were realigned this season) are now eligible for the State Farm Coaches’ Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 4.
Huertas is averaging a team-high 18.5 points per game this season, good for fourth among Southeastern Conference players. He is on pace for the highest scoring average by a Rebel since Justin Reed led the SEC with 18.5 ppg in 2003-04. Huertas also ranks in the league’s top five in 3-pointers per game (4th with 2.6), free-throw percentage (4th at 80.1) and 3-point field-goal percentage (5th at 35.9). He has scored 20+ points in 12 contests and double-figure points in 27-of-28 outings.
It is the fourth straight season that Ole Miss has placed a student-athlete on the NABC All-District team. Dwayne Curtis was a second-team member in 2006 and 2008, as was Todd Abernethy in 2007.
