Stankey, Swanson Earn Top 10 Finishes At Junior Olympics

OXFORD, Miss. - Two members of the Ole Miss rifle team - sophomore Erica Swanson and freshman Keely Stankey - recently captured a pair of top-10 finishes in the air rifle at the Junior Olympics sponsored by USA Shooting. The two-day event held in Colorado Spring, Colo., featured over 100 of the best shooters in the nation.

Swanson, a native of Savannah, Ga., fired a three-round total of 876.5 to place seventh in the nation. Swanson, who shot a finals total of 98.8, was also the top finisher from the state of Georgia.

A Minneapolis, Minn., native, Stankey fired a total of 775 to finish 10th out of 121 competitors. She finished just one point from advancing to the final round and was the second best finisher from the state of Minnesota.

“I am very proud of how Erica and Keely competed,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “They represented Ole Miss very well against some of the best shooters in the country.”
