Michael White Named Finalist For Coaching Award

White, who helped lead the Rebels to a winning record this past season despite a plethora of injuries to key players, was nominated for the honor by his peers and was one of the 10 leading vote getters in online voting on BasketballScoop.com.
The 10 finalists, who represent some of the top “rising stars” in the college basketball coaching profession, will now be evaluated by BasketballScoop’s panel of coaches who will select the five winners, to be announced beginning May 4.
A four-year starting point guard at Ole Miss from 1996-99, White is in his fifth season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. He has helped the Rebels to an SEC Western Division title, two postseason berths and three straight winning campaigns since 2007.
Working closely with the Rebel backcourt, White was instrumental in the development of a pair of all-league selections this season, including SEC Freshman of the Year Terrico White and junior David Huertas.
