ESPNU To Carry A Pair Of Rebel Soccer Matches
8/7/2009 | Soccer
OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss soccer matches against Auburn and Tennessee will be broadcast live on ESPNU this fall, the Southeastern Conference office announced Friday.
The Rebels' home match with western division rival Auburn on Sunday, Sept. 27, will be the first televised conference game of the year as it comes on the opening weekend of SEC play. The contest is now slated for a 2 p.m. CT kickoff. Ole Miss will square off against Tennessee in Knoxville on Sunday, Oct. 11. That ESPNU televised game will now kick off at 3 p.m. ET.
The contests reflect the reach of the new 15-year contract between the SEC and ESPN, which will enhance and extend the television exposure for almost all men's and women's sports. The league office is also working on additional televised soccer matches for this season through a regional package.
ESPNU will also show league tilts between LSU and Auburn (Oct. 4), Florida and Georgia (Oct. 18) and South Carolina and LSU (Oct. 25), as well as the SEC Soccer Tournament Championship Game (Nov. 8).
Ole Miss Soccer will be appearing on ESPNU for the first time in program history. The team has previously played in 13 televised matches, with nine of those on Fox Sports Net South.
