Rebel Netters Have Successful Opening Weekend

Kalle Norberg and Tucker Vorster, the lone upperclassmen on the team, combined to go 7-1 in singles and doubles. They won all three of their doubles matches against Harvard, Michigan and California. Vorster won all three of his singles matches, and Norberg went 1-1, losing only to Michigan's Evan King in three close sets on Saturday.
Rebel freshman Adrian Skogeng Forberg had a successful debut, winning all three of his singles matches in straight sets. The Oslo, Norway native capped the weekend with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Cal freshman Riki McLachlan.
The twins of Marcel Thiemann and Chris Thiemann went 2-1 in doubles and 2-3 in singles. On Sunday, they won their doubles match 8-4 and then lost close three set matches in supertiebreakers. Marcel actually had four match points before he lost his match.
"This was a great weekend for us. We are very proud of the guys and their effort against three top teams," head coach Billy Chadwick said.
Ole Miss will be back in action beginning Oct. 2 at the ITA All-American Championships, the year's first national tournament.
