Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At David Toms

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Ole Miss men's golf team started off strong in the final round of the David Toms Intercollegiate, getting back to under par for the tournament, before finishing up with a 10-over 874 for seventh.
Senior Jonathan Randolph came into the final round just two shots back of the leaders, and remained in the hunt throughout the front nine. But the All-American played the back nine (1-9) in 3-over to end up with a 74 and tie for 12th at 3-under 213.
Sophomore Tom Brown, making his first tournament of the fall, shot even par to tie for 23rd. Junior Joe David posted the low round of the day for the Rebels with a 4-under 68.
"We got off to a good start but couldn't keep the momentum going through to the end. This was a disappointing finish to the fall season," head coach Ernest Ross said. "Our top three scores each tournament have been good, but we need to improve in the fourth and fifth spot. We have some work to do, but we have the talent to be a great team."
LSU (848) held off Arkansas (850) to win the team title by two. South Alabama (855) came in third, followed by Middle Tennessee State and North Florida tied for fourth with an 866. LSU's Austin Gutgsell, playing as an individual, took medalist honors with a 10-under 206.
The Rebels will begin the spring Feb. 12 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
