Ole Miss Rifle Knocks Off Memphis

OXFORD, Miss. - Led by a career-high 579 in the smallbore from junior Meredith Holman, the Ole Miss Rebel rifle team knocked off the Memphis Tigers 4592-4536 on Wednesday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford. The team score of 4592 bested the Rebels previous season-high of 4590 set this past Sunday.
Aided by Holman's career high, the Rebels outshot the Tigers 2277-2228 in the smallbore. Sophomore Keely Stankey finished just behind Holman with a mark of 570, while Kim Coffey and Colleen Tillson both posted scores of 564.
Stankey paced the Rebels in the air rifle after posting a mark of 585. Tillson was close behind Stankey with a score of 582, while Coffey and Holman both posted marks of 574. Ole Miss outscored Memphis 2315-2308 in the air.
"This was another good win for us," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "We were able to improve in smallbore, while holding up our air score. They really battled for every point. This part of the season is always tough and it's really easy to give up, but they are really gaining their momentum now. I'm really proud of how hard they have been working and performing."
Also shooting for Ole Miss, but not counting in the team score were Amanda Green (552 smallbore, 550 air), Emma Holman (557 air, 545 smallbore) and Misty White (533 smallbore, 528 air).
Next up, Ole Miss will host an NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 13-14 at the National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford.
