Stankey Finishes Seventh At NCAA Rifle Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore Keely Stankey fired a total of 690.7 to finish seventh in the individual air rifle at the NCAA Rifle Championships at TCU on Saturday. It was Stankey's first ever appearance at the NCAA Championships and the highest finish recorded by a Rebel since Shannon Wilson's tenth-place finish in 2008.
Stankey's pre-finals total of 595 was a personal best and tied the school record also held by Meredith Holman. Her mark was tied for first overall heading into the finals round, but a score of 90.7 in the last relay moved Stankey back to seventh overall. Jonathan Hall, of Columbus State, won the overall individual air rifle championship with a total score of 699.9.
"Keely turned in a great performance today," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "She really had a great score heading into finals and had a little bit of a disappointment there, but overall it was a great day."
