Women's Golf Concludes Play At Kinderlou Challenge

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Ole Miss women's golf team concluded play at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge Tuesday, surviving tough conditions to finish tied for seventh in the 18-team field.
The Rebels shot a 307-299-307--913 at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. Senior Sara Grantham and sophomore Haley Millsap both earned top 20 finishes to lead the Rebels. Grantham tied for 13th with a 76-72-76--224, and Millsap tied for 20th with a 75-73-79--227.
"This tournament was an endurance of patience, and I thought we handled it really well," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "In the first round we were dusting off the winter rust and by the second round we were really ready to play, and we played well. Our last round the conditions got really tough, and although it might not have been the prettiest round to watch we battled and found a way to score.
This was a nice way to start our spring, and now that we have a tournament under our belt it will be good to get home, evaluate and start working towards the LSU tournament in New Orleans.
The Kinderlou Forest Challenge featured 14 ranked teams, including six in the Top 25. Tulane won the tournament with an 889, led by individual medalist Janine Fellows, who was the only player to shoot under par at 217. Ohio State finished second at 896, Tennessee took third at 901, and Georgia earned fourth at 903.
The Rebels will return to the links March 12-14 at the LSU Classic in New Orleans, La.
