Rebels Take In The Big Apple

Ole Miss players, coaches and staff have been enjoying the sights and sounds of the Big Apple since arriving Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, the team visited Ground Zero and Battery Park, where many of them got their first glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. They also visited China Town and took strolls around Times Square, where they are staying at the Marriott Marquis in the midst of the historic Broadway theater district.

The team practiced Monday morning. Head coach Andy Kennedy and guards Chris Warren and Terrico White took part in the NIT Press Conference, and the team later visited other parts of Manhattan, including a trip to the NBA Store.
Kennedy at the NIT Press Conference: "I want to start by thanking the Committee and Coach Newton. Coach Newton and I go way back. We appreciate the opportunity to come and play in this tournament. We were fortunate that our kids embraced this opportunity. We were here a couple of years ago and it is truly an amazing experience. Many of our guys have never been to New York City or played in the Garden, one of the most storied venues in all of basketball is something our guys are excited about. It is probably one of the most competitive NITs I can remember with quality coaches and quality teams. These are very good programs that have represented themselves well. We are excited to be here, we thank you for the opportunity and we know we have to play outstanding basketball Tuesday to beat the Dayton Flyers. Brian (Gregory) has done an outstanding job and they are playing as well as anyone in the country."

On Tuesday, the Rebels will shoot around at Madison Square Garden before playing Dayton in the first NIT semifinal tilt (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2) with a chance to advance to Thursday's championship game.
