BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After helping Ole Miss to wins over LSU and Arkansas to close the regular season, junior guard Chris Warren was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Warren averaged 26.5 points and 3.0 assists in the victories. The Rebels' point guard finished one shy of his career high with 31 points in a 68-66 comeback win in Fayetteville. He scored 20 points in the second half and helped Ole Miss erase an 11-point deficit with just over five minutes remaining, nailing a huge 3-pointer with 53 seconds left to give the Rebels their first lead of the contest. He also scored a game-high 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting (5-of-7 3s) with five assists in a 72-59 win over LSU.

The Orlando, Fla., native hit five 3s in both games this week to increase his season total to 95, which is only eight shy of his own school record. He has now connected on a 3-pointer in 40 straight games, which is one shy of a school record and tied for the sixth-best streak in SEC history.

Warren is the first player of the week selection for Ole Miss this season and the first since Dwayne Curtis received the honor on Dec. 17, 2007.

Ole Miss closed out league play with four straight wins to finish 9-7 and earn the program's fifth SEC Western Division Championship and second under head coach Andy Kennedy. As the West No. 2 seed in this week's SEC Tournament the Rebels receive a first-round bye and will play the LSU-Tennessee winner on Friday at 2:15 p.m. at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
