OXFORD, Miss. - The Matthew Mott era of Ole Miss Soccer moved closer to the start of the 2010 season when players arrived on campus Tuesday.
The 16 returning players and 10 newcomers went through a series of orientation meetings and activities on Tuesday and begin preseason training with a 6:30 a.m. practice on Wednesday.
The Rebels will have just over two weeks to prepare for the Aug. 20 season opener against Middle Tennessee, which will take place at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all soccer matches again this season.
Ole Miss fans have a chance to meet the 2010 Ole Miss soccer players and coaches and receive autographs, posters and schedule cards at the annual "Meet the Rebels" event from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Indoor Practice Facility on campus.
Last year's team went 13-6-2, finished third overall in the Southeastern Conference and earned the program's fourth NCAA Tournament bid. Leading the Rebels into 2010 will be team captain Taylor Cunningham, the lone senior on this year's squad. Also among the returnees are 2009 starters Meredith Snow, Dylan Jordan, Alley Ronaldi, Kelsey Breathitt and Alix Hildal.
