OXFORD, Miss. - Several members of the nine-time defending SEC West Champion Ole Miss men's tennis team are among the nation's top players as the preseason Campbell/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Singles and Doubles National Rankings were announced Friday.

Headlining the Rebels is junior Marcel Thiemann, who begins the year ranked No. 15 in singles. Thiemann, one of six players from the SEC in the top 15, is coming off an excellent sophomore campaign in which he earned All-America honors while playing No.1 for the Rebels.

He is also ranked No. 10 in the country in doubles with his brother, Chris. The Lehrte, Germany natives went 10-1 in the SEC last year playing No. 1 and qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Senior Tucker Vorster is ranked No. 58 in the nation after a solid junior campaign in 2010. The South African played No. 2 singles and doubles and helped lead a young squad to their ninth consecutive SEC West title and 17th straight NCAA appearance.

Vorster is also ranked No. 22 nationally in doubles with sophomore Jonas Lutjen. The pair finished 7-1 at No. 2 doubles last year.

The Rebels are the only school to have two teams in the doubles top 25.

Back for his senior year after redshirting the 2010 season with a back injury, Kalle Norberg enters the season ranked No. 124 in singles. In 2009, Norberg played a huge role in the Rebels winning the overall SEC Championship and was the SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Rebels will kick off the year next weekend at a USTA Future in Costa Mesa, Calif.
