OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team scored five unanswered goals to beat McNeese State, 5-1, Friday night at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

With the win, the Rebels improved to 2-3-1 on the year while the Cowgirls fell to 1-6.

Mandy McCalla and Alix Hildal each scored their first career goal for Ole Miss.

McNeese State scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute as Audrey LaLanne picked off a pass at midfield and hit a 45-yard shot that beat Rebel keeper Sarah Story.

Ole Miss responded in the second half with five goals, three of which were off headers.

McCalla started Ole Miss' scoring in the 52nd minute with a header off a corner kick taken by Taylor Cunningham. In the 59th minute, the Rebels increases their lead to 2-0 when Dylan Jordan scored off a header from a cross from McCalla.

Hildal scored in the 70th minute after collecting a rebound from Cunningham's shot. Ole Miss increased its lead to 4-1 in the 77th minute when Kendyl Mygatt's long cross from the right side found the head of McCalla at the back post.
The Rebels scored the final goal of the match in the 85th minute when Cunningham played a ball into Lily Crabtree behind the Cowgirl defense. Crabtree beat McNeese State keeper Cassandra Read in a one-v-one to put the Rebels up 5-1.

"We came out sluggish and they caught us on a counter attack," first-year head coach Matt Mott said. "We came out in the second half and we were more aggressive and moved the ball really well. Mandy scored the first one for us which kind of broke the ice."

Ole Miss ended the match outshooting McNeese State 36-4, which is the fifth-most shots in program history. The Rebels also recorded 14 corner kicks in the game.

McCalla recorded a game-high nine shots for Ole Miss while Erin Emerson and Jordan each recorded five.

Ole Miss will host #20 Memphis on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
