FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Senior Jonathan Randolph fired a 3-under 68 in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship Sunday to pace the Rebels to a 4-under 280 and a third place finish at the Legends Club.

Memphis shot even par in the final round, but their 274 in the opening round turned out to be enough. Both South Carolina and Ole Miss made charges, but could not quite get there. The Tigers finished at 842, two better than the Gamecocks (844) and five better than the Rebels (847).

"We got close to winning. It felt good to be under pressure, and our guys responded," head coach Ernest Ross said. "I am proud of the improvement we made from our first tournament. Each of our players had some good moments, and I know this is something we can build on."

Randolph tied for fourth with a 71-70-68--209, earning his seventh top-five finish in his last nine collegiate starts dating back to last year. In addition to a strong finish, the All-American accepted a sponsor's exemption this weekend into the PGA TOUR's Viking Classic, which begins this week near his hometown (Brandon) in Madison.

Never to be counted out, Randolph began the tournament tied for 16th and then moved up to a tie for eighth with the second round 70, before Sunday's final round 68 got him in the top five.

Junior Billy Brozovich turned in a solid outing for the Rebels, capped by a final round 69 which vaulted him to a tie for 12th. Local product (Madison, Tenn.) Joe David came into the final round tied for third. He looked to be in good position to earn a top 10 finish, but shot 75 and tied for 17th.

Pete Kellermann shot 72 and redshirt freshman Thomas Watkins rebounded from a tough first two days to card an even par 71.

The Rebels will be back in action Oct. 8-10 at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga.
