Boothe Inducted Into Tennessee-Martin Sports Hall Of Fame

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss rifle head coach Valerie Boothe picked up yet another honor over the weekend when she was inducted into the Tennessee-Martin Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.
The reigning Great American Rifle Conference Coach of the Year was one of four former UT-Martin student-athletes inducted into the school's sports hall of fame as part of homecoming weekend on the Martin campus.
"It was such a great honor to be inducted," said Boothe. "There are only around 130 inductees total and I am only the fifth person from rifle, so it is very special to me. We had a great time walking around campus and reminiscing."
A collegiate shooter for the Skyhawks from 1992 to 1996, Boothe led UT-Martin to a top-16 finish nationally each of her four seasons. A Livingston, Tenn. native, she won the Tennessee State Smallbore title in 1994, captured four Tennessee State Air Rifle championships from 1993 to 1996 and was a four-time Junior Olympian.
After her career at UT-Martin, she was named the first rifle coach in Ole Miss history prior to the program's inaugural season in 1996. The only head rifle coach in school history, Boothe earned National Coach of the Year honors from the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association in 2006 when she led the Rebels to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
