Lutjen Advances At USTA/ITA Southern Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. - Ole Miss men's tennis junior Jonas Lutjen advanced to the third round at the USTA/ITA Southern Regionals Thursday with a straight set win, while two of the Rebels' doubles teams moved on to the second round.
After a first round bye, Lutjen, ranked No. 72 in the nation, defeated LSU's David Roberts 6-4, 6-1. He will face Shay Wali of Tulane in the third round Friday at 8:30 a.m.
In the morning, the Rebels won both doubles matches against teams from LSU to advance to the second round. Rogers and Forberg Skogeng defeated James Tuberville and David Roberts, while their teammates Lutjen and Backstrom beat Stefan Szacinski and Mark Bowtell 9-7.
Play continues with the potential for two rounds of singles tomorrow for Lutjen and then doubles in the afternoon.

David Roberts (LSU) 6-4, 6-1; Andreas Mies (AUB) def. Adrian Forberg Skogeng (OM) 6-0, 6-4; Michael Thompson (UA) def. Joe Rogers (OM) 7-6(3), 6-3.
Doubles
First round - Rogers/Forberg Skogeng (OM) def. Tubrville/Roberts (LSU) 8-5; Lutjen/Backstrom (OM) def. Szacinski/Bowtell (LSU) 9-7.
