OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel Ready Program, in conjunction with the Dave Ramsey's Speaker Group, recently held a financial planning seminar for all Ole Miss student-athletes.

Led by Chris Hogan, a former All-American football player at Georgetown College, the seminar focused on financial education and was designed to educate, develop, motivate and inspire the student-athletes to take control of their financial future.

Hogan presented the group with facts on college students' financial health, including that three out of five first-year students max out their credit cards, one of four 23-28 year olds live at home with their parents and 28 percent of young adults living at home with their parents are unemployed. He also took questions from the student-athletes on topics including how to stay out of debt, how to get out of debt and student loans.

"Chris really challenged our student-athletes to think differently about their finances in terms of acting their wage," said Ole Miss Assistant Athletics Director Jamil Northcutt. "Simply stated, live within in your means and don't be influenced by the marketing of products to keep up with the Jones'. The message was clear and Chris used great statistics and examples to get his message across. Our student-athletes left the presentation informed and inspired."
