Thiemann Concludes Play At Clay Court Classic In Semifinals

SARASOTA, Fla. - Ole Miss men's tennis senior Marcel Thiemann concluded play in the Dick Vitale/Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic Saturday in the semifinals. That wraps up the fall season for the Rebels.
Thiemann, who won two matches on Friday, reached the semifinals earlier Saturday with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Pepperdine's Mousheg Hovhannisyan in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Thiemann, ranked No. 12 in the nation, dropped a close match to Virginia's Justin Shane, ranked No. 82, 6-4, 7-6(6). Thiemann had a set point in the second set and was up 5-2, but couldn't close it out.
