Ole Miss Soccer Inks Four To NLIs

OXFORD, Miss. - Second-year Ole Miss head soccer coach Matt Mott announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent Tuesday.
Kelly McCormick, Kate Anderson, Kristen McBrayer and Mary Louise Clawson have all signed National Letters of Intent to study and play soccer at Ole Miss beginning in the Fall of 2011. The four signees hail from three states, California, Texas and Georgia.
"We are very excited to have these four young ladies become a part of the Ole Miss soccer program," Mott said. "Each one of them has competed at the highest level of club soccer and represented their respective high schools extremely well on and off the field. This group will add depth to our roster and provide us with more options next fall."
Kelly McCormick (Laguna Niguel, Calif., goalkeeper)
McCormick is a 5-foot-7 goalkeeper who attends Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, Calif. She has been a four-year varsity starter, a three-year team captain and has earned numerous awards and honors including Rookie of the Year, Most Inspirational, All-League Team 2, MVP and All-League Team 1. In addition, McCormick is currently leading her team to a California Interscholastic Federation League Title.
McCormick plays club for the highly-competitive So Cal Blues where her team is the No. 1 ranked team by National Soccer Rankings, TopDrawer and GotSoccer. She has played for the So. Cal. Blues for nine years and she has led her team to five-consecutive Surf Cup Championships. In addition, McCormick has led her team to a U.S. Youth U-17 National Championship in 2010, a U.S. Youth U-16 Bronze National Championship and a U.S. Youth U-15 Silver National Championship.
McCormick also ran cross country as a freshman and a sophomore and served as a team captain two times. In addition, she participated in track all four years and lettered in 2010 as a pole vaulter. She was the league champion and advanced to the CIF-SS Finals in 2010. McCormick is a four-year scholar athlete and a four-year member of the Principal's Honor Roll. McCormick is the daughter of Robert and Charlotte McCormick and her grandfather, Robert Hill McCormick is a '39 graduate of Ole Miss.
"One of the top goalkeepers in the country, Kelly recently won a National Championship with her club team So Cal Blues," Mott said. "She is a very good shot stopper with the ability to push for a starting position right away."
Mary Louise Clawson (Houston, Texas, forward/midfielder)
Clawson is a 5-foot-6 midfielder who attends Houston Christian High School (HCHS) in Houston, Texas. She is a four-year varsity soccer player and earned several athletic honors in high school including being named to the All-State First Team (2009), the All-District First Team (2009, 2010), team MVP (2008) and was named to the NSCAA All-America Soccer Team in 2009. Clawson also recorded the most goals and assists on her team in 2008 and 2009.
She plays club for the Albion Hurricanes FC 93 Blue where Clawson was the Division I State Champions in 2005 and played in the Premier League for four years. She was also a three-year member of the ODP Region State team and was a member of the Honorable Mention Regional Team in 2007.
Clawson is a two-time State Champion in the 400m dash (2009, 2010) and took second in State in the 100m dash (2008). She is also a three-time All-State Team honoree (2009, 2009, 2010) and set five HCHS track records. Clawson is the daughter of Mark and Laura Clawson.
"ML is a very determined player who has great pace and a tremendous work ethic," Mott said. "She will compete for playing time in the wide midfield and forward positions."
Kristen McBrayer (Hiram, Ga., Midfielder)
McBrayer is a 5-foot-7 midfielder who attends Hiram High School in Hiram, Ga., where she has been named MVP and the Best Offensive Player. In addition, McBrayer is a two-time All-Country honoree and two-time All-Region First Team selection. She plays club for Concord Fire and has been a Super Y PDP Captain, attended National PDP camp and played two years in the National Tournament.
McBrayer played two years on the Georgia ODP State Team. She is the daughter of Deidri and Brian McBrayer.
"Kristen is a midfield player who will push for playing time," Mott said. "Her versatility means she could be an option in an attacking or holding midfield role."
Kate Anderson (Dallas, Texas, forward/midfielder)
Anderson is a 5-foot-5 forward/midfielder who attends Plano West Senior High School in Plano, Texas, where she was a 2010 Regional Finalist and an offensive MVP in 2010. She plays club for Dallas Texans Red 93 where she has led her team to three consecutive State Cup Championships. Anderson's club team also won the National League in 2009 and the Premier League in 2010. She is the daughter of Hugh and LaNita Anderson.
"Kate is tenacious in the midfield or in defense," Mott said. "She has had regional and national success with her Dallas Texans club team and will add depth to our backline."
In addition to its four NLIs, Mott also announced the addition of two non-scholarship athletes to his 2011 class, Virginia Seiler (defender, Atlanta, Ga.) and Margaret Thomas (forward, Benton, Ky.)
Seiler is a four-year starter and two-time team Defensive MVP for The Lovett School. In addition, she plays club for Concorde Fire Elite ECNL where she has been a four-year team captain.
"Virginia is a strong, physical player with a good presence on the field," Mott said. "She will add depth in the center of our defense or holding midfield positions."
Thomas, who attends Marshall County High School, is a three-time All-District Team honoree and a two-time First Team All-State selection. She is second all-time in career goals for Marshall County High School (118). Thomas was also a two-year member of the Region II State ODP Team from 2004-2006.
"Margaret is a very hard working center forward who plays with tremendous energy and enthusiasm," Mott said. "She will compete for playing time up front."
