OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will once again play host to this year's Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships taking place at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford this weekend Feb. 26-27.
This marks the seventh-straight year that Ole Miss has hosted the conference championships. Ole Miss joined the GARC prior to the 2001-02 season.
"We're very excited to host the conference championships once again and that everyone wanted to come back," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "We have excellent field of team competing and I know this will be an outstanding event for the shooter and fans."
The GARC boasts some of the best rifle programs in the country, including former national champions Army and West Virginia. Ole Miss joins the former title winners, as well as conference rivals Kentucky, Memphis, Nebraska and N.C. State, in the two-day event.
The premier shooting facility at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center was completed prior to the 2004 season, and the Rebels have already hosted five home matches and a NCAA sectional this season.
Competition commences at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and runs through Sunday afternoon. The smallbore competition begins on Saturday morning with the finals for starting at 5:30 p.m. The air rifle will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with the finals beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
