Rebel Netters Top Arkansas 5-2 In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Ole Miss men's tennis team rebounded from a disappointing loss to LSU on Friday to top Arkansas 5-2 here Sunday at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the SEC, while Arkansas dropped to 3-8 and 0-4. Ole Miss has now won 23 in a row against Arkansas.
Ole Miss got on the board first by taking the doubles point with wins on courts three and two. Kalle Norberg and Adrian Forberg Skogeng defeated Gregoire Lehmann and Matt Walters 8-6. Tucker Vorster and Jonas Lutjen finished off Nikolas Zogaj and Mike Ward 8-5 at two to clinch the point.
With Norberg out of the singles lineup for the second straight match, the Rebels moved up everyone from three on down and Adrian Forberg Skogeng stepped in at six. No problem, as Ole Miss gained solid straight set wins at three, six and two in that order to put away the Razorbacks.
Lutjen downed Zogaj 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, Forberg Skogeng took out Manfred Jeske 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 and then Vorster finished it off with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Matt Hogan at No. 2.
"We played well today," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "We won the doubles and then Jonas played great at three, Adrian got in done at six again, and Tucker closed it out for us. Now we're heading down to Florida to play Stetson and then a very tough Florida team at their place."
Chris Thiemann defeated Matt Walters 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles for the final point. Arkansas got the last two matches at one and four in supertiebreakers.
The Rebels will continue on the road heading east to Florida for a match against Stetson on Thursday and a showdown with Florida in Gainesville Saturday.
