OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss rifle team recently held its postseason banquet and handed out end of the year awards, including the team's Most Valuable Player Award to sophomore Kim Coffey.
Coffey, who led the team with a 585 average in the air rifle, was named the team's Most Improved Shooter. Freshmen Abbey Stanec earned Rookie of the Year honors and Melissa Quartarone was named the Scholar-Athlete. Fellow freshman Rena Goodwin took home the team's Most Dedicated Award and earned the Iron Gun Award for her work in strength and conditioning.
In addition to the team awards, six players - Coffey, Goodwin, Emma Holman, Meredith Holman, Quartarone and Stanec - all earned College Rifle Coaches' Association All-Academic honors.
The banquet served as a wrap-up for Ole Miss' successful 2010-11 campaign, which saw the Rebels win six matches and head coach Valerie Boothe earn Great America Rifle Conference Coach of the Year honors.
