OXFORD, Miss. - Before Friday's series opener, members of the Ole Miss softball team presented the Alabama softball team with a donation for the University of Alabama's tornado relief efforts.

The donation, presented by team captains Brittany Barnhill and Amanda Hutcheson to Crimson Tide seniors Kelsi Dunne and Whitney Larsen , is designated for the University of Alabama's Acts of Kindness Fund that will be used to provide financial assistance to employees and students who qualify under the guidelines of this emergency-assistance program.

"The recent tornados in Mississippi and Alabama have shown us that softball is just a game and there are more important things in life," said Ole Miss senior captain Brittany Barnhill. "We may be competitors on the field, but we are all members of the SEC and that makes us a family."

The Ole Miss Athletics Department would like to encourage individuals to donate to the various tornado relief efforts in Mississippi and Alabama.
