OXFORD, Miss. - Rafaelle Souza and Erin Emerson each scored two goals as Ole Miss downed Jackson State 8-0 Sunday night at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

Ole Miss improved to 3-0 with the win while Jackson State fell to 0-1.

With the win, Ole Miss has recorded its first 3-0 start since the 2005 team started the year 4-0. The Rebels also pushed their scoreless streak to 270 minutes which marks the longest scoreless streak to start the year since 2003.

With the eight goals in the game, Ole Miss tied the fourth-best mark in program history for goals in a game.

"We were able to get on them early and we had a lot of different people score which is always a plus and it talks a lot about our team and our unselfish players," head coach Matt Mott said. "The team is really tight right now and we really believe in each other. We are off to a great start."

Rafaelle Souza put Ole Miss up 1-0 with a free kick goal from 20 yards out in the 21st minute.

Souza added her second goal of the game with a back post finish in the 27th minute. Kendyl Mygatt took the ball into the corner and crossed it across the face of the goal. Souza collected the ball on the back post and hit a volley past Jackson State keeper Taylor Emerson as Ole Miss went up 2-0.

Mandy McCalla scored her first goal of the year and put Ole Miss up 3-0 in the 34th minute as she finished a cross from Jenna Strother.

In the second half, Alix Hildal scored for the Rebels in the 47th minute on the back post.

Emerson added the team's fifth goal of the match in the 52nd minute Souza started the play on the right of the field and found Hildal who quickly played Emerson who found the back of the net.

Emerson added another goal in the 57th minute as she put in a deflected pass for her second goal of the night.

Meghan O'Rourke scored her first career goal in the 67th minute while Dylan Jordan scored her first goal of the year in the 70th minute.

Ole Miss recorded 25 shots in the game (15 on goal) while Jackson State recorded three. Jordan and McCalla each took a game-high five shots.

Keeper Alley Ronaldi played 35 minutes and made two saves while Kelly McCormick played 55 minutes and made one save.

Ole Miss will travel to Auburn, Ala., next weekend to play in the Auburn Tournament. Ole Miss will play Wright State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. followed by a game against Duke on Sunday, September 4 at 11:30 a.m.
