OXFORD, MISS. - The Ole Miss soccer team scored six unanswered goals Monday afternoon to beat The Citadel 6-1 at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

With the win, Ole Miss improved to 4-2-1 while The Citadel fell to 2-3.

The Rebels recorded 26 shots in the match (13 on goal) while the Bulldogs recorded five with three on goal. Erin Emerson and Rafaelle Souza each recorded five shots for Ole Miss.

"We didn't come out of the gate really well, we were a little sluggish to start and I challenged them at halftime to pick up our work rate in the second half," head coach Matt Mott said. "We came out with a little more renewed passion, came at them and scored five good goals in the second half."

The Citadel took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute as Amy Loughran dribbled into the box and beat Alley Ronaldi for the early lead.

The Rebels tied the game in the 34th minute as Alix Hildal scored a one-touch goal. Souza started the play with a quick restart off a foul. Souza found Emerson who turned and found Hildal.

Ole Miss took the lead in the 57th minute on a goal by Emily Reid. Souza recorded her second assist of the afternoon and found Reid who blasted a shot to the upper left corner.

Dylan Jordan scored her first goal of the year in the 64th minute as she headed in a corner kick from Reid.

Jenna Strother scored her first career goal in the 77th minute as she took her space down the center of the field and scored an unassisted goal. Reid scored her second goal of the match in the 80th minute as she bent in a corner kick.

Souza scored the team's final goal of the game in the 84th minute off an assist from Emerson as she beat the Bulldog keeper with a close-range shot.

"Rafaelle is so dangerous when she has the ball and if she has any kind of space she is going to be dangerous," Mott said. "She is doing a good job of passing the ball and ended up with a couple assists today. She is continuing to be really dominant."

Goalkeepers Ronaldi (one save, one goal against) played the first 45 minutes in goal while Kelly McCormick played the second half and made one save.

Ole Miss will travel to UAB on Saturday at 7 p.m. for its final non-conference game of the season.
