Rebels Fall To Georgia 2-0

OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebel soccer team fell to Georgia (6-6-2, 2-3-1 SEC) on Friday night as the Bulldogs put two shots in the goal to down Ole Miss (9-5, 2-5 SEC) by a score of 2-0 at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
"This is a tough loss," said Ole Miss head coach Matthew Mott. "Georgia scored a good goal in the first half. We came out in the second half and had a chance to be dangerous. We put the ball in some dangerous spots, but we couldn't find the back of the net. The lid is on the goal for us right now. We have to be ready for a tough Kentucky team on Sunday."
Georgia took the lead in the first half when Jenna Owens put the ball in the net in the 26th minute, beating Ole Miss' Kelly McCormick in the box as the Rebel keeper charged the ball. Owens got past McCormick as the ball took a Georgia bounce and delivered the shot into the net to put the Bulldogs on the board.
Ole Miss, who out-shot the Bulldogs 12-to-9 on the night, got several opportunities early in the second half with offensive pressure on the visiting team. The Rebels were unable to convert, however, and came away empty as Georgia settled in for the second stanza.
The Bulldogs took the lead out to two goals in the 75th minute when Madeline Barker took a pass on the far side near midfield and dribbled into the box on the near side where she lined up her shot and put it in the net.
Ole Miss returns to action on Sunday when the Rebels host Kentucky at 1 p.m.
