OXFORD, Miss. - Junior Marshall Henderson hit five three-pointers and poured in a game-high 22 points and senior Murphy Holloway collected his 26th career double-double, as Ole Miss raced passed Mississippi Valley State 93-57 in the season opener on Friday night.

Holloway finished with 15 points and added 11 boards to give him 754 rebounds for his career and move him into a tie with Coolidge Ball for eighth on the Ole Miss career list. Freshman Martavious Newby added 11 points and eight rebounds, while senior Reginald Buckner added 10 points, four steals and three blocks for the Rebels (1-0).
Mississippi Valley State (0-1) was led by Davon Usher with 19 points and six assists. The Delta Devils struggled from the field, managing only 32.2 percent (19 of 59), including 10 consecutive misses from three-point range in the first half.
Ole Miss shot 39.7 percent (31 of 78) from the field, but had a decisive edge from the free throw line, hitting 64 percent (25 of 39). The Rebels outrebounded Mississippi Valley State 53-44 and forced 23 turnovers.
The Rebels led 44-21 at the halftime.
"We made some improvements from the exhibition," Kennedy said. "When you can score 93 points and shoot under 40 percent from the floor it shows you are active. We took 78 shots, we were very active."
Next up, the Rebels will host on Coastal Carolina Tuesday night, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m.
