BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss women's tennis sophomore Vivian Vlaar has been named the SEC Player of the Week for her performance at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Tallahassee, Fla., last weekend.

The Kinrooi, Belgium native won both her singles matches in dramatic fashion to clinch 4-3 wins for the Rebels against No. 29 Texas A&M and No. 18 Florida State, leading the team to their first National Team Indoor Final 16 appearance since 2000.

Saturday's match was just Vlaar's fourth of the year after having wrist surgery in the offseason. She trailed 4-2 in the third set against A&M's Janine Erasmus and won three straight games to go ahead 5-4 before winning a tiebreaker. Sunday she trailed 5-3 in the second set down a set and rallied to win it 6-0 in the third to clinch the team's spot in the Final 16.

The Rebels were the only team outside the Top 25 and one of only three away teams to win this weekend.

Ole Miss is expected to move up in this week's national rankings, which come out Thursday. The Rebels head to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech Saturday at 10 a.m.
