Women's Golf Kicks Off Spring Schedule in New Orleans

OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 35 Ole Miss women's golf team returns to action for the first time since October, as the Rebels make the trip down to New Orleans, La., to compete in the All-State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the English Turn Golf & Country Club Feb. 26-28.
This will be yet another challenging tournament on the Rebels' slate this season, as they are among a 15-team field that includes nine teams ranked in the top-25 in No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Auburn, defending tournament champion No. 4 Southern California, No. 12 Florida, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 16 Duke, No. 18 Oregon, No. 19 Baylor and No. 22 Colorado. In addition to those nine, each of the other six teams is ranked inside the top-64.
The Rebels competed in last year's event, finishing in 15th place in the 17-team field.
Junior Haley Sanders currently leads the Rebels with a 75.00 stroke average and has led the team in three of four tournaments this year. Sanders has earned a pair of top-20 finishes this season, including a season-best 13th place finish in the Landfall Tradition.
Senior Natalie Gleadall carries a 75.17 stroke average into the spring schedule. Gleadall has a second place finish to her credit this season--the fourth top-five finish of her career and her sixth in the top-20.
Senior Haley Millsap owns a 76.33 stroke average and a top-20 finish on the season--the sixth of her career.
Also joining the three in the lineup will be freshman Taelor Rubin and senior Ashley Lance. Rubin has competed in three tournaments this year, while Lance will participate in her second event of the 2011-12 campaign and the 29th of her career.
Competing as an individual, Kathryn Fowler will be making her first appearance of the season. The sophomore competed in seven tournaments in 2010-11, posting the fourth-best stroke average on the team at 76.57.
