Sanders Leads Rebels On Final Day Of SEC Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Junior Haley Sanders shot a 78 to lead the Rebels in the final round of the SEC Championship at the Blessings Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
Ole Miss shot a 326 on yet another day with strong wind gusts in Fayetteville to finish in 10th place.
No. 5 Auburn took home the 2012 SEC Championship. Auburn held off Arkansas by a single stroke, as both teams shot an identical 313 on Sunday.
The Tigers' Patricia Sans won medalist honors, finishing at 3-over for the tournament.
"It was one of the most difficult rounds of golf the team has played," said Ole Miss head coach Michele Drinkard. "When you miss a shot at The Blessings, it is a penalty. So with the wind blowing today at 25 to 30 m.p.h., it was difficult to keep the ball in play. It is a demanding shot makers golf course, as you can tell by the big numbers that were taken by every team. We took our share too."
Sanders moved up to 23rd place with her 6-over in the final round, just missing a top-20 finish by two strokes.
Ericka Schneider had strong first and second rounds to finish the event in 26th place, while Natalie Gleadall took 29th.
"We are disappointed with where we finished; but with NCAA Regionals coming up, we need to get over it quickly," said Drinkard. One thing I am very proud of about this team is that they played their heart out today and hit each shot with their full commitment. It will help us in the post season."
