OXFORD, Miss. - Another busy week for Rebel golfers as rising senior Haley Sanders and rising sophomore Taelor Rubin represented Ole Miss in the Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship held July 31- August 2 at the Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio.

The duo of Sanders and Rubin, who were tied for 10th after the first and second days, moved up the leader board on the final day to finish the three-day event tied for fifth, carding a 290. Today the pair shot the fourth-lowest score on the final day (68).

"It's great to see Haley and Taelor play well this week and closeout today's round with the fourth-lowest team score of the day," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "In talking with Haley last night, I could hear and feel how much positive energy both she and Taelor had going and knew they were going to play well today."

Two-person teams comprised of top current women's collegiate golfers, competed in a 54-hole stroke play event. The duos played alternate shot format on day one, best ball rules on day two and the combined score of both players for the final round.

"Overall it was a great and fun event," Rubin said. "Haley was a great teammate and we worked really well together. The main focus was to have fun and enjoy the competitiveness and get geared for the season on the road to the National Championship in Athens! Our finish really got us pumped for it as well. Fifth place was a great end to the week in such a good field."

The pair shot a four-over 76 on day one (T10) and rebounded to card a four-under 68 on day two to finish the day in a tie for 10th.

"We played really well," Sanders said. "It was a fun format for us and it's not often that we get to play with a teammate during a competition which allowed us to learn about each other's games. We had a good week and this is good momentum to have going into the season. It was a good turnout for us to be able to finish up there with South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Tennessee."

Teams were comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA programs.
