OXFORD, Miss. - Fresh off a successful USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team will head back to the state of Alabama for the USTA Futures in Birmingham.
The event, a USTA Pro Circuit tournament at the Highland Park Tennis Center, features a qualifying draw of 128 players starting Friday. The 32-player main draw will begin Tuesday, Oct. 22, and competitors will look to earn ATP ranking points.
Recent USTA/ITA Southern Regional doubles champions William Kallberg and Stefan Lindmark will compete in the qualifying beginning Friday along with Vinod Gowda and Zach Wilder. Nik Scholtz, who owns a world ranking of 651, is already in the main draw.
"The Futures Circuit is a proving ground for players trying to earn ATP points and reach the highest level," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "Playing in USTA events in the fall provides our guys a chance to play against really good competition and helps prepare us for the spring season."
