Lindmark Reaches Quarterfinals at USTA/ITA Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. - Ole Miss Men's Tennis junior Stefan Lindmark picked up two more wins Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of singles at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, while the Rebels also placed two doubles teams in the round of 16.
In his third round match earlier in the day, Lindmark was on serve with Troy's Gabriel Dias, when the Trojan retired due to injury. Later in the afternoon, Lindmark took out upstart Fares Kalini (Samford), who earlier had knocked off the 2013 SEC Freshman of the Year, 6-0, 6-0.
Lindmark will face LSU's Borias Arias Saturday at 9 a.m.
Teaming up for the first time this year, junior Joe Rogers and freshman Zvonimir Babic are into the doubles round of 16 with a solid 8-6 win over Becker O'Shaughnessey and Andrew Goodwin of Alabama. They will face Mississippi State's Robin Haden and Rashib Agarwal Saturday at 1 p.m.
Senior William Kallberg and freshman Gustav Hansson are also in the round of 16 in doubles after an 8-7(4) win against Rui Silva and Blake Gregor of the University of New Orleans. They will face Maxime Hinnasdaels and Joseph Van Dooren Saturday at 1 p.m.
In other main draw singles action, the Rebels lost some tight matches in the third round. Kallberg lost to ULL's Edgar Lopez in three sets. After winning the first set 6-3, Kallberg lost the second 6-3. He had a chance to break and serve for the match in the final set, but Lopez held on to win 7-5.
Jorge also played three sets against South Alabama's Daniel Leitner, but came up just a little short. After losing the first set 6-1, Jorge won the second set 6-3, but Leitner was able to take the third 7-5.
Hansson fell to Auburn transfer Marko Krickovic 6-2, 6-4.
In consolation singles, Zach Wilder, Vinod Gowda and Zvonimir Babic picked up five wins combined.
