Friedmann, Hiskey Named Academic All-District

OXFORD, Miss. - A pair of juniors on the Ole Miss soccer team were recognized for academic achievement recently when Maddie Friedmann and Jessica Hiskey were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team when the organization announced the district teams.

Selection to the CoSIDA Capital One All-District team makes both Friedmann and Hiskey eligible for CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America honors.

A junior defender, Friedmann earned selection as a Capital One Academic All-District team member for the second consecutive season. The St. Louis, Missouri, native holds a 3.88 GPA in Journalism. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society and has been selected to the Chancellor's Honor Roll all four semesters she has completed at Ole Miss.

Friedmann is also a two-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

This season, the junior helped the Rebels post five shutout victories to bring her career total to 23 shutouts on the back line. She scored her first goal of her career this season against No. 10 Texas A&M and started all 19 matches this season, playing in every minute of every contest. For her career, Friedmann has started all 65 matches and played 5,832 minutes of 6,052 possible minutes the last three seasons.

Hiskey earned a spot on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District team for the first time in her career this season. The Franklin, Tennessee, native holds a 3.92 GPA in Chemistry and is a four-time selection to the Chancellor's Honor Roll - making the list each eligible semester in her academic career. She is also a two-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Hiskey has started every match for the Rebels this season, playing in 1,809 minutes of 1,840 minutes played by the team this season. She has notched six goals this season and two assists, including hitting the game-winner against Vanderbilt earlier this season while delivering the assist on the Rebels' other goal. Hiskey helped the squad post five shutouts this year as a defensive midfielder and has been a part of the Rebels posting 23 shutouts in her three years.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
