Wolcott Leads Rebels on Day One of Jerry Pate Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. - Sophomore Ben Wolcott fired a 3-under par 67 in the second round to lead the Ole Miss men's golf team on day one of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Alabama.
Wolcott, who has notched two top-20 finishes this season, is tied for 10th place, carding a 1-over par 141 through two rounds. The Dickson, Tennessee, native posted five birdies in the second round to help push Ole Miss up four spots on the leader board.
"It was certainly polar opposite rounds of golf," head coach Chris Malloy said. "We have got to be more ready to come out and play in our first rounds. We can't keep digging ourselves out of holes like we have done. I am proud of our guys for fighting back and climbing back up the leader board."
Freshman Josh Seiple fired a 2-under par 68 in the second round and is tied for 29th place. Sophomore Noah West carded an eagle and three birdies, en route to a 3-under par 67 in the second round of play.
"Ben, Josh and Noah really saved us this afternoon," Malloy said. "It was great to see the young guys step up. Now we just have to be prepared to continue to build on that momentum tomorrow."
As a team, the Rebels, who were in 11th place after the first round, are tied for seventh place with Texas A&M and Charlotte. Host team Alabama currently sits atop the leader board.
Seniors Blake Morris and Joe Lewis each posted a 4-over par 74 in the second round and finished the day in 42nd and 57th place, respectively.
The third round will begin tomorrow morning with the Rebels teeing off beginning at 8:50 a.m. Ole Miss will be paired with Texas A&M and Charlotte in the final round.
