NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On the final day of the Commodore Scramble, the Ole Miss Men's Tennis team won three more matches to finish the weekend with 16 total wins in singles and doubles at the Currey Tennis Center. The weekend wraps up the fall for the Rebels.
Ole Miss won one doubles match, and three singles matches Sunday. Sophomore Ricardo Jorge celebrated his birthday by teaming up with Vinod Gowda for an 8-4 win against Ryan Smith and Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt and then followed that up by beating Suresh Eswaran of Vanderbilt 6-4, 6-1. Gowda downed Shakeel Manji of Memphis 6-2, 6-1 and William Kallberg defeated Robin Riethmueller 6-3, 6-4.
"I am really pleased to see the progress our guys have made this fall," said assistant coach Taylor Vaughn, who took the guys to Nashville. "They have been putting in the work every day and it is showing up on match day."
The Rebels will kick off the spring season Jan. 8-10 at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational. Their first dual match is Jan. 16 at UCF.
