OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss women's tennis head coach Mark Beyers picked up his 200th career victory as the No. 34 ranked Rebels defeated No. 32 Memphis 4-3 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

With the win, the Rebels improved to 5-1 overall as they get set to hit the road for the start of Southeastern Conference play next weekend at Auburn and Alabama. Memphis fell to 6-4, as the Rebels improved their series lead to 23-3.

The Rebels won the doubles point for the fifth time in six matches, and then earned singles wins at three, four and two in that order to secure their fourth win in a row.

Erin Stephens and Iris Verboven won their match at No. 1 doubles 8-3, but Memphis handed Zalina Khairudinova and Julia Jones their first loss at No. 3, 8-3. Moments later Caroline Rohde-Moe and Marija Milutinovic finished off an 8-2 at No. 2 to clinch the point.

Jones and Mai El Kamash put up quick points on the board for the Rebels winning their matches in convincing fashion to increase the lead to 3-0. Jones downed Caroline Wegner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, to improved to 15-5 overall, 4-1 in dual matches. El Kamash downed Alyssa Hibberd 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 for 16th win overall and to remain undefeated in dual matches.

Rohde-Moe ended the matter when she defeated Skylar Kuykendall 6-4, 6-4 on court two. She also stayed undefeated in dual matches at 4-0.

Memphis won the remaining matches, two of them in third-set supertiebreakers, for the final 4-3 score.
