LOUISVILLE - The Rebels got chances on Friday night, but were unable to put the ball away as Ole Miss (1-1-1) fell to Louisville (2-1-0) by a score of 1-0 in the inaugural match at Lynn Stadium on the campus of the University of Louisville.

The two teams battled to a draw through the first half of play before the Cardinals got on the board in the second half on the way to the victory.

"Credit to Louisville who came out with a very good game plan and made it very difficult for us to break them down," said Ole Miss head coach Matt Mott. "They scored a great goal. We need to get ourselves freshened up and recovered so we can come back out Sunday and playa tough match against Louisiana-Lafayette."

Ole Miss got its first chance in the 34th minute when Addie Forbus took a corner kick and sent it into the box. Jessica Hiskey got a header attempt, but it was wide of the goal as the game remained scoreless in the first half.

The Rebels got another chance in the 39th minute when Sydney Eddy took a pass and got loose up top for a one-on-one opportunity, but the Louisville keeper dove on the ball and smothered it to prevent the chance for the shot.

Ole Miss held a 4-to-2 advantage in corners at the half, but the Cardinals held a 4-to-1 edge in shots despite neither team finding the back of the net.

Louisville got on the board in the 57th minute when the Cards got loose on a break and Kari Weinland sent the ball into the box from the near side to Chatham Deprospo. The Cardinal midfielder took the ball one-on-one with the Rebels' goalkeeper and slid the ball past her for the score.

Ole Miss got a chance at an equalizing goal in the 81st minute off another corner from Forbus, but the Louisville keeper leaped up and made the saving snag over a Rebel player looking to put a head on the ball for a goal.

The Rebels got two more chances down the stretch with a strike from Gretchen Harknett that was saved in the 89th minute and a last attempt off a free kick following a foul immediately following that was just wide of the goal.

Ole Miss will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday, hosting the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
