GAINESVILLE, Fla. - On a rain-delayed first day at the SEC Fall Classic, the Ole Miss men's tennis team placed three players in the second round of singles, while one doubles team advanced to the quarterfinals Friday.
Junior Stefan Lindmark had a great day on the courts, taking out the No. 46 ranked player in the nation from Texas A&M, Jeremy Efferding 7-5, 6-1. Lindmark also teamed up with sophomore Ricardo Jorge to reach the quarterfinals in doubles with two wins. In the first round, they defeated Tate Allwardt and Pen Binet of Vanderbilt 8-5 and then followed that win up in the nightcap with an 8-5 victory against Mississippi State's Mate Cutura and Robin Haden.
Senior William Kallberg rallied to defeat Arkansas' David Herrerias 6-7, 7-6, 6-1. He will face Texas A&M newcomer A.J. Catanzariti in the second round Saturday.
Both freshmen made their debut Friday, and Croatian Zvonimir Babic earned a straight-set win against Tennessee junior Bartosz Sawicki, 7-6, 7-6. Babic will face Florida junior Gordon Watson Saturday in the second round.
