TULSA, Okla. - In the year's first major, the Ole Miss men's tennis team had five players competing in the pre-qualifying Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Unfortunately, none of the five players competing Saturday will join their teammates, William Kallberg and Stefan Lindmark in the qualifying tournament.
Freshman Gustav Hansson was the lone Rebel to make it out of the first round, downing Loyola Marymount's Felix Van Kann 6-1, 6-2. He lost a tough three-setter in the second round to Clemson's Alejandro Augusto 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
Sophomore Ricardo Jorge dropped a tight three-setter to Yannick Zeurn of North Florida, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(5). Freshman Zvonimir Babic also lost in three sets to Ben Mullis of Drake, 0-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The qualifying tournament begins Tuesday with both Lindmark and Kallberg competing in singles as well as doubles with Hansson and Jorge, respectively.
