BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After helping the Ole Miss soccer team knock off No. 10 Auburn this past weekend, senior defender Jessica Hiskey was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Hiskey earned an SEC weekly accolade for the second time her career. In her first season as a Rebel, she was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week after helping the Rebels to a pair of conference victories.

Hiskey not only helped Ole Miss beat top-10 teams in back-to-back games for the first time in school history, but she also managed a backline that kept the two ranked foes off the scoreboard. After the Rebels beat then-No. 10 South Carolina 2-0 last Sunday, No. 21 Ole Miss took down No. 10 Auburn by the same 2-0 margin in another strong performance on the pitch. Hiskey and the rest of the backline helped the Rebels' pitch their seventh shutout of the season.

Starting the first 11 games as a midfielder, Hiskey moved to the backline following an injury to fellow classmate and team captain Samantha Sanders. In the five games that Hiskey has started as a center back, the Rebels have allowed just two goals. Ole Miss has gone 4-1-0 during that stretch, all SEC games, vaulting them into the NSCAA national poll and No. 19 in the RPI.

The Franklin, Tennessee native became the fourth Rebel to collect a weekly award from the conference office this season, including the third in the past two weeks. Last week, fellow senior defender Maddie Friedmann shared SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors, while goalkeeper Marnie Merritt was named SEC Freshman of the Week. Freshman CeCe Kizer claimed the first weekly award for Ole Miss when she was the SEC Freshman of the Week, Sept. 8.

Hiskey and the Rebels return to action next weekend as they hit the road for the final time during the regular season. Ole Miss will face Tennessee on Friday night at 6 p.m. CT before taking the pitch against Texas A&M at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday. As always, fans can catch the action on SEC Network+.
