The Competition
West Virginia returns to competition following a two-week break. They are shooting at Memphis Saturday, before coming down to Oxford. The defending NCAA Champion Mountaineers opened the 2015-16 season defeating then-No. 9 Air Force on Oct. 10, and No. 6 Nebraska on Oct. 11. WVU's season-high score of 4714 against Nebraska is the best mark shot by any NCAA team this year. Jacksonville State is coming off a 4628 performance at Murray State last weekend.
Rebel Rewind
Ole Miss posted a 4603 aggregate score at Kentucky last weekend. Highlighting the day, freshman Randi Loudin turned in a personal best 570 in smallbore. Alison Weisz led the Rebels with a 574 in smallbore and a 588 in air rifle.
Ole Miss Site of Top Scores
The Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center has been the site of six of the top air rifle scores in the nation this year. Alison Weisz is tied for the fifth best score in the nation with a 594 on Oct. 1 as part of the Ole Miss Invitational. Sophomore Jessica Haig is tied for the seventh best score with a 592 at the Ole Miss Invitational.
Talking with Head Coach Valerie Boothe
"The team has really pushed themselves this week. We are hosting two great teams and welcome the challenge of competition. This being our last time at home until the spring, we are focused on making the most of it."
