Lindmark Drops Opening Match at All-American
10/8/2015 | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. - Ole Miss men's tennis senior Stefan Lindmark went to bed Wednesday night thinking he was going to face a familiar opponent, Filip Vittek of San Diego, in the first round of the ITA All-American Championships main draw, but when he got to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Thursday, he learned he would be facing a different opponent.
A computer glitch caused both the singles and doubles draws to be redrawn. Lindmark, ranked No. 44 in the nation, found out he would be playing Texas A&M sophomore Arthur Rinderknech, ranked No. 53, at 2 p.m.
Lindmark got off to a pretty good start breaking Rinderknech early for a 2-1 lead; however, the Aggie broke right back and ended up winning five straight games to take the first set 6-2. He carried the momentum into the second set winning it 6-1 to advance.
