OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Stefan Moody scored 21 points to lead Ole Miss to a 68-59 victory over Georgia State Wednesday night.

Moody was 6 of 13 from the floor with two 3-pointers, and had five assists and three steals. Tomasz Gielo added 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting for the Rebels, who made 5 of their first 6 shots from beyond the arc before going cold and shooting 1 of 10 the rest of the game.

"He (Moody) opens up a lot of options for us," Gielo said, "because once he goes through the first pick and roll, the defense just sucks in."

"I think he's (Gielo) the one guy for us right now that can move the ball and take some pressure off Moody," Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said. "He was really the one giving up some movement and good looks, so it was unfortunate that he fouled out."

Ole Miss (4-2) was 21 of 44 from the field and 20 of 24 from the free-throw line, and had 15 turnovers and five steals.

"They're all going to be a grind for us until we can get groove offensively," Kennedy said. "I just think we look passive. We're not attacking enough."

Jeremy Hollowell scored 23 points to lead Georgia State (2-1). The Panthers shot 41 percent (21 of 51) from the field, but struggled from the line, going 11 of 20.

"I know more about my team now than I did before the game," Georgia State coach Ron Hunter said. "I didn't know we had this toughness. We've got a lot of new guys. I also learned that Jeremy Hollowell is not a bad player."

Both teams opened the game shooting well. Midway through the first half, Moody and Gielo hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Ole Miss an 18-11 lead. The Rebels then missed their next three shots from the floor, and the Panthers closed the first period on a 10-3 run and trailed 35-32 at halftime.

A Hollowell 3-pointer pulled the Panthers to within one, 43-42, with 14 minutes remaining, but an 11-4 run helped Ole Miss regain control of the game.

Georgia State pulled to 58-56 with two minutes left before missing a layup and two free throws on its next two possessions to end the rally.

"We didn't handle ourselves like a veteran team at the end," Hunter said. "But you come on the road in the SEC and to have a chance, that's what we wanted to do."
