Recap

Ole Miss Head Coach Andy Kennedy

On point guard play…
"It's not where we need it to be for sure. This is the second time we've played someone other than ourselves. We had a closed scrimmage and J.T. (Escobar) played a bunch, and he didn't turn the ball over. Today he didn't turn the ball over. That's a huge positive. I felt like in our closed scrimmage, first and foremost out of that position is ball security. I'm not asking our point guard to come in and do what Sam (Finley) did tonight and score 21 points. We have the SEC leading returning scorer on one wing. We have a kid in (Sebastian Saiz) tonight that missed some shots around the basket but can be a double-double guy for us. We have two stretch fours. Anthony (Perez) has been in a bit of a funk, but Tomasz (Gielo) has shown the ability to stretch and make shots. I need my point guard to deliver the ball in a timely fashion and be solid defensively."

On the game…
"Defensively, we were just atrocious on the ball. A lot of it is one basic premise, and that's trust. I don't think we trust our teammates because we're always looking around at everything other than the ball, which should be the focus of your defense. When there's ball screen action happening we're so concerned with running into one of them because evidently we're not communicating well enough. We have to get much, much better. Offensively, I thought J.T. did a good job distributing. Sam got much better at the end. He does have a gift for getting the ball in the paint. Obviously, (Stefan) Moody is Moody. I think we'll be fine back there."
